Ipsy Glam Bag May 2013 and GIVEAWAY!!

Ipsy Glam Bag May 2013

Hello everyone! Today I received my May 2013 Ipsy Glam bag. For those of you who are unaware, Ipsy provides a beauty subscription service where, for $10 a month, you get a bag filled with goodies! It is a great way to try out products that you wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to. Let’s dive in, shall we?

This month I received:

  • A sample of Yaby concealer in Buff
  • A Pacifica roll on perfume in Island Vanilla
  • NuMe Finishing Serum
  • Juicy Beauty Reflecting Gloss in Fig
  • Zoya nail polish in Julie

So far, I have really enjoyed the products that I have tried. The hair oil is great at adding shine and taming frizz without making hair greasy or weighed down. The perfume is a pretty scent. It’s not something that I would wear every day, but it is a sweet vanilla scent without being too cloying. I haven’t had a chance to try the concealer yet, but it is creamy and nicely pigmented. I really enjoyed the Juicy Beauty lip gloss. It is really shiny but not sticky at all. Isn’t it the worst when you find a gloss that you love, but your hair ends up stuck to your mouth every ten seconds? Thankfully, that doesn’t happen here. This gloss smells like oranges which, for me, is as added bonus. I am obsessed with citrus scents! Here are some lip and hand swatches of the gloss:

Very pretty 🙂

Last, but not least, we have the Zoya nail polish in Julie. I LOVE Zoya polishes; they last forever on my fingers and toes and my nails tend to chip really easily. The only downfall is, I already have this shade! So, I have decided to do a little giveaway 🙂 All you have to do to enter is follow my blog and leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite Spring/ Summer nail polish is right now. Easy right? This giveaway is open to all U.S. residents. The winner will be selected at random and will be announced on June 1, so be sure to check back here!

If you are interested in joining Ipsy and getting your own monthly Glam Bag you can subscribe to Ipsy here.

Have a lovely day and good luck!

Julep Maven Starter Box

Julep Maven May 2013

A week or so ago, on a whim, I decided to sign up for the Julep Maven Box when I found a code allowing me to get my first box for free. Since I only had to pay for shipping, I figured why not?

A  few days later, and I had this lovely little package on my doorstep (well, apartment complex office building, but doorstep sounds more fun). On the Julep website, you fill out a quick little survey which allows them to tailor your box to your individual style. I ended up getting the “Classic With a Twist” box, which included the description that you see here:

Now onto the the products! My box included a glycolic hand scrub that contains apricot seeds. I have already tried it, and it truely does make your hands feel so, so, soft. The scent on this is lovely, very light and faintly floral.

Of course, there were two nail polishes also included in my box. The shades are called Natalie (A bright coral-y pink) and Debra (a yellow based greige).

This box also included two bonus gifts: a nail polish remover pad and an emory board. I have used the wipe and thought it did a really good job, although one wipe was not enough for both of my hands. However, it did easily remove glittery nail polish, which is no small feat!

All in all, I am really pleased with this box. The Julep Maven boxes are $19.99 a month and you can register for them here. A great thing about this service, is that it gives you the option to skip a month after seeing a preview of the box.  If you need to save money that month, or are just not feeling what is in the box, you can opt out! I wish more services would consider doing this.

What beauty subscription services have you tried? What is one that you think is a “must have”?

Enjoy your Wednesday!
